Dr. Killian
I have been in the practice and area since 1999 after graduating from dental school at the University of Michigan. I am blessed to have an amazing wife, Jennie for 15 years, and three kids who are all growing up way too fast! In looking back over my first 25 years of dentistry, the changes are incredible to think about. While ideas and philosophies have evolved, and technology continues to develop (and I continue to buy it :D), taking care of the person remains at the forefront of what I do! The relationships with so many of my patients go all the way to when I started 25 years ago. The trust and confidence patients have is what drives me to continue to grow and learn as a dentist and make sure that I am providing patients with the best possible care and solutions that meet their needs and helps their dentistry last. That said, I have never been able to do it alone. The staff at PD makes a huge difference in people’s lives and experiences here, and I cannot do any of it without them, past, present and future!

Dr. Schafer
I was born in Mount Pleasant, and although I moved around a lot growing up, I am enjoying being back in the central Michigan area with my family. Following high school, I graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in health administration in 2019 and then attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, earning my DMD degree in May 2023. While a student at CMU, I met my husband, Andrew, and we adopted our dog, Copper. We got married before making the move to Kentucky and now have two wonderful sons to keep us busy at home. In my free time, I enjoy being with family and friends, especially my nieces and nephews. I also love crafting, baking, and spending time on the water.

Tammy here, I have been with my Preference Dental family for 5 years. My focus at the office is helping patients navigate the tricky highway of insurance. I have one son and he is the lite of my life. I spend every free moment chasing him in whatever sport or activity he is doing at the time. When we are not chasing a sport, we spend our time on cruise control.

Before becoming a hygienist, I played college basketball for 2 years at Muskegon Community College. I transferred to Ferris and continued on with my education and dental assisted while on the waitlist for the hygiene program. I have been a hygienist for Preference Dental for 2 years and love it here. I get all the support from my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter. I look forward to educating you on your dental health and seeing your beautiful smile.

Howdy, I have been with Preference Dental 4 years. I started my career 24 years ago in Oklahoma. 5 years ago, we relocated to Michigan, and we have not looked back. I have been married for 28 years and we raised 2 boys. In my spare time I enjoy traveling with my husband and boating with our grandkids. I am also a die hard KC Chiefs fan!

I was born and raised in a small town called Paris just north of Big Rapids. I attended Ferris State University pursuing a degree in Dental Hygiene; graduating in 2020. I worked as an assistant here at Preference Dental while I attended college. I knew the dental field was the perfect career for me!
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with Alexander, our son and two dogs. We live on a farm where we spend most of our time outdoors. We enjoy farming, boating, side by side riding and cookouts with our families.

I am the newest dental assistant to enter the Preference Dental family. I am a Chip Hills girl and have been looking for the right career until now. I attended Westervelt University for medical office administration, but have since found I wanted to be more hands on working with patients in a clinical manner. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outside, reading books, and spoiling my beautiful nieces.

Megan has been with the Preference Dental family for 8 years. She is one one of our amazing hygienists. Outside of the office, Megan spends her time with her family. If she is not spoiling her niece and nephew, she is spending time on the farm with her husband. Her dog Kimmy also holds a special place in her heart. She is a local Ferris State grad, go Dawgs!

Scheduling Coordinator
Lauren is from the east side of the state and has been in dentistry for 7 years. Her love of golf will help her fit into the community. In her free time, you will also find her playing softball and spending time at her family’s cottage. You may see her around walking her beloved dogs Woodson and Zola as they are a big part of her life. She also would like you to know she is a HUGE LIONS FAN!!!

I’ve been a practicing dental hygienist for 17 years now, my how the time flies! I was born and raised here in Michigan, but was blessed with the opportunity to explore our beautiful country from the East Coast to the West. I started my career here in my home state, but have also lived and practiced in Washington state, Kansas, and North Carolina before moving back home to raise my son. We are lovers of nature and spend our time together in the great outdoors as much as we possibly can.
